The Invisible Magnetic Switch - Hall Sensor

The Invisible Magnetic Switch - Hall Sensor

November 26, 2025

Have you ever wondered why the flip cover case for your smartphone can automatically turn on the screen? How do electric vehicles sense the speed? The magic behind this is the Hall sensor.

It is based on the Hall effect discovered in 1879: when an electric current passes through a conductor perpendicularly to a magnetic field, a measurable voltage is generated. Modern Hall sensors are mainly divided into two types: switch type and linear type. The switch type is like a magnetic control switch, and it outputs a signal when the magnetic field is close by. It is widely used in door/window sensing and rotational speed measurement. The linear type outputs a continuous signal proportional to the magnetic field strength, and is often used in precise scenarios such as throttle position and current detection.

This non-contact sensing method has no wear and tear, long lifespan and high reliability, making it an indispensable "sensing organ" in both industrial and consumer electronics, silently endowing machines with the ability to sense magnetic fields.

We can offer you various current sensors, voltage sensors and converters. For more details, please visit https://www.njtokensensor.com/.
